Death is a habit of the body and one does not know when we will be over taken by death. However one believes and acts as though one is going to live forever. This is nothing but stupidity. The people that you see today there is no guarantee that you will see them tomorrow. It is this uncertainty that is the HALLMARK OF LIFE.
Fools will carry on with LIFE-AS-USUAL attitude. But the HUMBLE YOGI knows that DEATH IS NOT THE END and that is is only a SMALL PAUSE in the CYCLE OF LIFE that has started since the BEGINNING OF LIFE. He therefore wants to go beyond death and does all things to ensure that it happens thereby wasting no time. He knows that death is nothing but soul changing its body which is beautifully described in Bhagavad Gita as given below:
वासांसि जीर्णानि यथा विहाय नवानि गृह्णाति नरोऽपराणि।
तथा शरीराणि विहाय जीर्णान्यन्यानि संयाति नवानि देही।।
As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, similarly, the “soul” accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones.
A simple practice which could help you in the direction of spirituality is: WHEN YOU BEHAVE WITH PEOPLE BEHAVE AS IF YOU ARE SEEING HIM FOR THE LAST TIME. You will never see the person again in life. With such an attitude people will behave in the loving way possible because you will never get chance to repent for wrong doing again.
So please dont waste time in FLIRTING WITH SENSE OBJECTS instead work on your sadhana as no one knows when death would catch up with you.
I don’t know how many of you speak the LANGUAGE OF LOVE let alone KNOW IT. Then mothers, fathers would say our love for children is true. It is definitely true but it is the LOVE OF ATTACHMENT and nothing else. Any ordinary persons first love is towards himself. Then when his emotion expands it extends to one’s lovers, wives, husbands, children and so on. The basis of this kind of love is IDENTIFICATION. One loves the person whom he thinks he is identified to.
It is precisely because of this that is causing all the problems in this world. One might not feel the same for somebody else who is not related to you. Hence people fight with each other; clans with other clans; nations with other nations and so on.
Now you think what you are is limited to the boundaries of your body because your physical senses cannot extend beyond that. But with meditation you can extend yourself to include everything even the whole existence within you. When this happens if somebody suffers you feel his pain. When somebody is injured you are are affected. This is what Krishna meant when he said:
“An enlightened person sees with equal vision a learned scholar, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and a dog-eater.”
How can he discriminate between himself and others when he finds that he is the one who is existing in many bodies. Now the discrimination between my son and their son has ended and all children are the same for you. In this condition how can a person ever think to injure his fellow creatures. Until this kind of awareness happens one will see wars, blood shed, rapes and what not.
My wish is that everybody know the sweetness of love–not the love of attachment but the love that comes from all-inclusiveness which one realizes through meditation.
Love rules the court, the camp, the grove,
And men below, and saints above;
For love is heaven, and heaven is love.
One of the meaning of the word Guru is ‘heavy’–heavy by taking the burden of karma from the disciple. All human being carry the burden of karmas right from being a single celled creature. It is the force of karma that makes a person act as well as experience pain and misery. And spirituality is all about wiping out karmas.
Many a times the density of karmas prevent us from experiencing our true selves. It is like thick dust on a mirror preventing it from reflecting sunlight. It is exactly here that the need of true guru is felt. A true guru by being compassionate takes upon himself many of your karma so that you are able to sit still for meditation. Also when students go into deep meditation by leaving the conscious mind he might encounter many unexpected memories and experiences. Here a Shiva like guru takes the poison of karmas upon himself otherwise you will crack. This is exactly what is meant by SAMUDRA MANTHAN or CHURNING THE OCEAN OF MILK.
When consciousness is churned many things both good and evil comes up and the student may not be prepared to deal with such things. And the true guru makes a drink of it. The word Enlightenment in tis context has a clear meaning–REDUCING THE WEIGHT OF YOUR KARMAS.
It is generally said that when the student is ready a teacher appears or sometimes teachers also seek out students. Anyways it is always best to have a guru to lead us in this dark world where LIFE IS A BRIEF HAPPENING.
While their human form with which to experience divinity
Is ever towed behind like a wreck.
“I have already always insisted that the most difficult thing to race with is yourself, not somebody else. To be able to take yourself to the limits but never breaking up, thats the essence of life. One who saves himself never gets anywhere. One who crosses the limit,of course gets somewhere but he wont be here. To be able to get to the last point and still not flip over, is the essence of life, is the very essence of yoga too. But if you want to drive yourself to that last rev possible, highest rev possible, your machine should be good –this human mechanism, which is the most sophisticated machine.”
We like in an era in which machines are glorified for their functional use. Man is the only creature who has glorified machines unlike any other animal. As a result we see that animals are healthy and man is sick. Day by day we are getting dependent on machines that our bodies are getting disused. And people who love machines know very well that anything lying disused will not function properly. Have you heard about Albert Camus, he said that a time will come when If someone falls in love with somebody, he will appoint a servant to go and make love on his behalf. Now they are saying that people will make love with robots in the future. This i think is where we are heading if we don’t change our habits.
Most people want to show-off the hugeness of their PRIDE by the bigness of their houses; the length, luxury and noise of their vehicles and so on. But it is only the humble yogi who knows that all worldly possessions cannot satisfy his pride. So he longs for that by which everything else is satisfied. And for that he keeps his body in over the top condition so that his body does not fail him in his efforts.
This blog is all about maintaining your body very well that it becomes a launch pad for something else. So, keep your body well so that you are able to experience life’s ultimate potential.
The Rishis prayed:
A hundred autumns may we see.
A hundred autumns may we live.
A hundred autumns may we know.
A hundred autumns may we grow.
A hundred autumns may we thrive.
A hundred autumns may we be.
A hundred autumns may we bide.
A hundred, yea, and even more.
Cleaning your tongue is easy. Join the index, middle and ring finger and with these three rub on your tongue back and forth until the white coating is totally gone. This is normal cleansing. Then to reach the deep ends of your tongue for cleansing you should use your index and middle finger together. This will clean the end of your tongue and it is here that most waste matter stays. (I DONT RECOMMEND USING METAL TONGUE SCRAPER)
Cleaning the Epiglottis
After this you can also clean the epiglottis–which is a flap of cartilage behind the root of the tongue, which is depressed during swallowing to cover the opening of the windpipe. You can call this the SMALL TONGUE. Can you see the small tongue behind the tongue. THIS NEED NOT BE DONE DAILY BUT MONTHLY.
You need to clean the epiglottis on its TOP portion with your index and middle fingers. It needs to be cleansed as food particles may stick to it while swallowing. Cleansing the small tongue can also induce vomiting and throat mucous or phlegm may come out. If a persons kapha is in balance i suggest that you hold the kapha coming out while cleansing in your left palm and swallow it after cleansing is over.
Tongue cleansing should be done daily and it will help you will maintain a healthy tongue.
If there is any UNGRATEFUL CREATURE in this whole world that would be we HUMANS. Ever unsatisfied with the things he has he pokes his prick everywhere and brings it under his cruel control. Because of his greed he is threatening the existence of his fellow creatures as well as the very earth that is supporting him. Now the bastard man is planning to POKE HIS PRICK in other planets to PURSUE HIS ROTTEN GREED. And he thinks he is smart.
In the natural world it is the LIGHT OF THE SUN that regulated life and it was not available at night. So the need to have a different source of light was felt. Initially fire was a natural happening, then man artificially built the first fire and since then there was no turning back. And among the things which man made believing that it will enhance his life is ARTIFICIAL LIGHT.
Now if you look at the many sources of light, one that is soothing is the light of natural fire. The fire which was then made by burning wood transformed into fire by oil. This too had a natural quality to it and one could stare at it for hours without any harm.
Now in the Vishu Kani its dramatism lies in th effect that natural light produces when we see it before seeing anything else at early morning when it is dark. It looks divine isn’t it. The words like Deva, Devi, Divya, Deepam all derived from light which means SHINING ONES.
In traditional houses in bharat an oil lamp would be kept burning through out the day. Now with the coming of electric light man is controlling time. BPOs is a classic example of this and the damage it does to the body. The white light that is emitted from tubelights and bulbs suppresses certain chemicals which induces sleep and one cannot sleep properly. Now we have LED white lights and the light emitted by computer monitors which is even worse. The safest among electric lights is the incandescent bulbs which produces a golden yellow light when the filament inside it gets heated.
Lamps are best lit using ghee and sesame oils. But i think it is best to eat it rather than burning it. As for me i like darkness; it is in the womb of darkness that light appears and disappears.
Chair is one of the worst inventions ever made by man. And since man takes pride in his stupidity we find all kinds of modifications done on chairs, thinking they are smart. If men think they are smart then the one who made them should be smarter. Then i don’t know why we are following the stupid man like the blind following another blind man.
The chair was invented for sitting but do the inventor fools know the need to sit. Sitting is to relax or rest the body during day time and lying down on your sides for resting at night. Prior to the invention of the chair man used to squat to rest, also for drinking as well as eating.
SQUATTING IS THE BASIC POSE FOR RELAXING. Squatting strengthens your legs which most sitting poses do no do. This is the posture for defecating. In this position if you sit on your toes, it becomes a asana for urination. A variation of this posture is also a meditating posture. This asana is made famous by Ayyappan also called Sastavu, Manikandan or Sasta whose famous shrine is Sabarimala. But how many fools know this who throng and dirty that sacred place.
This is posture of alertness, a witnessing position where one is meditative but doesn’t loose body awareness. The belt around his legs signifies alertness and observation. The posture is also a posture of readiness from which one can come of meditation easily.
Here a tiger is crouched and is waiting for the right moment to attack. This posture for the tiger is a posture of readiness and Ayyappa’s posture is the human equivalent of it but used for a different purpose.
Sitting is different from squatting where the weight of the body is distributed on the buttocks as well as legs. This is a completely relaxed posture. In this posture the back, neck and head is straight. It is ONLY this posture which gives MAXIMUM COMFORT TO BODY ORGANS which are suspended and held together by flesh, muscles and bones. This is the RESTING POSITION and is WAY BETTER THAN THE SLEEPING POSITION. Whereas while sitting on a chair people tend to relax their back by bending the waist which is not good for your organs as they are bent.
This posture makes your hips flexible which is needed to allow free flow of energy from the base of your spine. As you get older your hips get rigid, as a result the energy flow is blocked and death happens. But the yogi cares a shit about death and works to keep his hips flexible.
While eating the right leg should cross the left and for meditating or other purposes the left should cross the right. In the picture above left leg is crossing the right and is meditative/ left part of the body. For eating, apart from this asana one can rest his right leg over the left leg.
In the above picture the left leg is resting on the ground and the right leg is resting over the left. THIS IS THE BEST POSTURE FOR EATING AND NO OTHER. Eating while sitting on a chair or standing is worst and is good for fools. And even worse fools eat while walking.
This is the correct way of eating. See pic below:
FLEXIBILITY OF YOUR HIPS
I say the your hips are completely flexible if you are able to do forward and side ward leg splits.
EXERCISES FOR HIP FLEXIBILITY
2 basic exercises for opening your hips is Titliasana or the butterfly pose and shishupalasana or rocking the baby pose. There are of course man others and you can search in youtube and learn.
In cold places one can sit on a blanket rather than a chair.
SITTING ENERGY WISE
This is only for couples. The right part of the human body is masculine/ positive/ active and the left half is feminine/ negative/ passive. So when a couple sits in public energy wise it is best for the wife to sit on the left side of her husband.
Whereas, in their private moments, the wife can sit on her husband’s left thighs. The man’s right thigh is for children.
SO, avoid using the chair as much as possible and sit cross legged. Use a folded blanket or a thick cloth as a mat to sit on.
